"Pierre Loti ou l'Âme Voyageuse" by Cyrille Diatkine - 2009 - Silk Twill 90x90

Hermès silk carrée of classic dimensions 90cm by 90cm "Pierre Loti ou l'Âme Voyageuse" designed by Cyrille Diatkine and published in 2009. It's a design I particularly appreciate, especially in this pastel pink color which fits very well with the poetic spirit of Pierre Loti. Julien Viaud, his real name, the central character of this piece was a naval officer and a traveling writer with a thousand lives. Egyptian statues, Ottoman silhouettes, memories of Japan... A famous quote from Loti is also inscribed on the carrée: "How good it is here, and what a fatal thing is this urge that always takes me to leave." A collector's item, a true surprise in the Hermès universe.

Text from the small Hermès booklet: "The carrée traces the epic of Pierre Loti and his insatiable desire for elsewhere. His wanderings gave rise to numerous works, drawings, and photographs. This profusion of images forms the material of the carrée, a kind of puzzle bringing together the many lives and facets of the writer: young soldier, proud méhariste, naval officer, Turkish dandy, eccentric orientalist... Traces of places visited, collages of photos, objects, and portraits, the carrée becomes an exotic travel journal, on which this famous phrase is inscribed: « How good it is here, and what a fatal thing is this urge that always takes me to leave. »"

This scarf is in very good condition: beautiful plump rolled hem, excellent drape, slight imperfections detailed in the 4 last photos. Composition label present.
