Twill silk scarf measuring 90 x 90 cm, titled "À la Gloire de la Légion Étrangère" (To the Glory of the Foreign Legion). It was designed by Hugo Grygkar as a tribute to the regiments of the Foreign Legion, presented here in a color scheme combining red, green, and beige. It was issued in 1951 and never reissued. There is a second Hermès scarf named "À la Gloire de la Légion Étrangère II" issued in 1958 based on a different, though similar, design.
Hugo Grygkar was a Polish illustrator based in Paris, specializing in equestrian scenes and hunting themes. He was one of Hermès' most prolific artists, designing over sixty scarves between the 1940s and 1970s, including the famous "Brides de Gala."
The condition of this scarf is very good despite its age, with slight imperfections visible in the last 2 photos.
It is sold with an Hermès scarf box and its bolduc (ribbon).
As this scarf is pre-owned, it may have tiny imperfections.
